If you have a question I haven’t already answered, leave me a comment :D
What can I use your icons for? I make PB icons for RPGs, but you can use them for personal journals if you like; the rules are the same either way.
Can I edit your icons? No, I’m afraid you can’t. These aren’t bases, so no adding borders, colouring the hair, slapping brushes or textures on, etc. I’ve seen people do it without even having the courtesy to ask (there are far too many Ryan Reynolds icons out there with red hair that I recognise as mine, originally :/). If you ask, you can add borders, or, if you absolutely need to make changes to the icons for whatever reason (hair or eye colour), please ask me first. If you ask, well, that’s different. I’ll probably say yes, but you still need to credit me for the original icon.
Do you do any effects on your icons? I don’t. I prefer clean icons that have been brightened and sharpened with some extra contrast. Nice and neat and very useful for RPGs. All that glow business? No thanks.
Do you take requests? I do! You can find the post here, with all the rules and guidelines I have for making requests ♥
Can I hotlink your icons? No you can’t. I pay for my host, so do me a favour and use your own. I store a lot of things in my photobucket, and it would just piss me off if my bandwidth got eaten up because other people can’t spare a few minutes to store them for themselves.
Do you make banners? I don’t, except on special request. If you give me a few pictures and an email address, I’ll do my best to whip some up, and send them your way for your personal use.
Can you colour hair/eyes? I can’t, unfortunately. I can do it awkwardly with larger graphics, but I’ve discovered I can only do a messy kind of red XD So alas, I can’t meet those requirements for you.
What graphics program do you use? I use Paint Shop Pro 8, which is an amazing program ♥ I highly recommend it.
Can you make a tutorial for how you create your icons? Another no here, folks! If I told you how I make my icons, well, it wouldn’t be my method anymore, would it? ;D
How do I credit you and where? Easy! If you use my icons for an account and no one else’s, you can stick my name in somewhere in the user info, something like “all icons by seethesoldiers” (please make sure to spell it right; I've seen quite a few people typo it as seethesoliders XD) will do just fine. I prefer people to credit in icon comments, though, as shown in the graphic below:
Simple as that! :D It takes a couple of minutes at most, and lets everyone know where they can find other icons in the same style. There are too many people out there who don’t credit people for their icons :/ Don’t be one of those people. It’s because of people like that that great icon makers like musicaalandrobins throw in the towel.
How come you have several sets of the same actor in the same movie? Like Ryan Reynolds in The Amityville Horror, you have three different versions of those. I’m a weird person, and I can’t bring myself to overwrite or replace or delete things. So if I find a new set of caps from a movie I’ve already made icons of, with different angles and poses etc, or even a better quality, then I’ll make another set, and post it without taking down the old one. After all, I may prefer the new set, but that doesn’t mean everyone else thinks the newer icons are better. So I leave them all where they are, so everyone can choose for themselves which icons they want.
Where do you get your pictures from? You can find a list of sites I use or have used in the past here. If you can’t find what you were looking for in particular, feel free to contact me and I’ll see what I can do :D
Is there anyone you won’t make icons of? Absolutely, positively won’t? Nope. If you need or want icons and you can give me pictures to work with, it doesn’t matter in the least whether or not I like the PB myself, even if I absolutely hate them for whatever reason. If I have the pictures, I’ll make the icons for you. I’m much more likely to make icons of someone I’m not a fan of if they’re requested, obviously, but I’ll make icons of anyone, regardless of whether or not I like them myself.
Who are your top three PBs to icon? Men and women! In the women, my top three PBs to icon are currently, in ascending order: Neve Campbell, Michelle Rodriguez and Melissa George. For the men, also in ascending order, it's: Michael Trucco, Shane West and Ryan Reynolds!
How can I navigate your journal? How can I find what I'm looking for? There are plenty of ways you can hunt through seethesoldiers: you can use the memories, the directory (which is the best way to find who/what you're looking for visually), or you can use the tags; the tags not only list the different men and women (and animals) I have iconned, but also traits so you can browse through a certain look to find a PB for a character you have in mind. The memories, directory and tags are updated with every single batch, so nothing is ever left out :D
So I took a look at your "coming soon" list in your directory post; that's a lot of sets, but you don't have many photoshoot sets listed. Those keep showing up. Where do they come from? Are they just random urges? Actually they're not! I have all those photoshoot sets listed in my main notes file on my laptop, but there are a lot of them, all over the place, of all kinds of different people. I don't list them because it would take up a lot of space to do so, so basically it's just a surprise as to who shows up and when ;D The photoshoot sets that are listed on my "coming soon" list are requests, usually.
Can you make your own screencaps? If so, what program do you use? Is it any good? I can! :D I haven't been able to make them very long, but I stumbled across a really great little program that's stupidly easy to use. I use FRAPS, and I definitely recommend it. I can autocapture, which means I just set the interval for the capping and let it do its thing; I can work on other icon sets, RPG tags, or novel chunks or whatever I like! Seriously, really great free program ♥
Does this mean we can ask you for icons from movies you own and can cap now? Do you have a DVD list we can look at? I don't have anything like that yet, and as it is, right now I have a lot of sets I want to make, and a lot of requests from lovely, patient people. When everything quiets down and I don't have so much on my (icon) plate, I will probably do just that; you'll just have to bear with me and be patient.
